Re-Source Partners Welcomes Fred Holwey as its Director of Operations
So You Think Selling Is Just for Salespeople! ![]() When deciding on a career in Information technology, many people rule out sales. Most feel they do not have the aptitude or passion for selling IT equipment and services. A major hurdle in accepting a position in any sales job is overcoming the rejection (being told no) that comes with selling. Little do we know that selling is an important part of many professions that we all need to advance our careers. When I was deciding the career that I wanted to pursue, I ruled out Sales. I felt that I did not have the aptitude or passion for selling. And, I did not believe that I could tolerate the rejection (being told no) that comes with selling. Little did I know that selling would be an important competency that I would need to advance in my career. If you're not in Sales and need evidence of the importance of selling, check the backgrounds of individuals who have advanced in their organizations and companies. You will find that many of them made their mark by introducing and getting approval of some concept, idea, recommendation or proposal that provided a significant contribution to the organization. In other words, they sold. That idea or proposal got them noticed. Through successful selling, individuals received approval of funds and resources and the support that need to be effective, be promoted and receive high visibility assignments.
Should You Buy a Netbook?
I can't tell you how many people have asked me for advice on that very question over the last couple of months. You've probably seen these advertised a lot lately - maybe you even know somebody who has one. And if you're in the market for a new computer, and have seen the great prices on these new products, you may have considered buying one yourself. Here's what you should know first!Netbooks are great - as long as you know what you're buying. First and foremost, you probably shouldn't expect a netbook to be a perfect replacement for your home desktop computer - or even a replacement for a more traditional notebook/laptop. Netbooks are a niche product -- for the most part, they're designed to complement your main computer, not replace it. Here's a list of some of the compromises you make when you buy a netbook and their implications:
Windows 7 Release Issues Motorola Droid Steals BlackBerry's Limelight Motorola's upcoming Droid smartphone is grabbing plenty of attention--so much attention, in fact, that news of two new BlackBerry devices is getting lost in the shuffle. In recent weeks, Research In Motion announced two new smartphones, the revamped BlackBerry Storm 2, and the Bold 9700. Both are impressive phones in their own right, but neither is garnering the buzz that surrounds the Motorola Droid. With its high-end features, including a speedy processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and a big, high-resolution screen, the Motorola Droid is already widely seen as the second best to the Apple iPhone by a vast majority of reviews (a place which was previously occupied by the Palm Pre).
