In the November Re-source Partners Newsletter, I emphasized that the ability to sell was not limited to Sales professionals. A check of the backgrounds of executives in your company as well as companies throughout industry will reveal that many executives advanced because they were able to obtain approval and support for concepts, ideas, recommendations and proposals. In other words, they sold.

Google continues to develop cool applications that have benefits for businesses. The newest in is Google Wave. Similar to a number of disparate tools such as WebEx, NetMeeting, Whiteboard, and Sharepoint, it draws a number of solutions together allowing multiple users to collaborate on documents, calendars, and meetings from remote locations.
On the other hand you can also use it to play scrabble, so your own focus will be challenged.

Computerworld - Reversing earlier doom-and-gloom forecasts, Gartner Inc. now expects global PC shipments to grow 2.8% this year.Low-priced laptops, such as those in the emerging netbook category, are helping boost unit sales to better-than-expected levels; Windows 7, though, isn't responsible for the upgraded projections, Gartner said today.
At the beginning of this year, Gartner had predicted that 2009 PC shipments would fall by 11.9% from last year. The decline would have been four times greater than the one in 2001 after the dot-com bust.
Server Replacement Not the Answer
In not-so-great news for the channel, the research firm predicts that customers in 2010 will find themselves better off making due with existing systems.
Data centers are facing huge problems with power, space and people that will only worsen in 2010, but Gartner says server replacement is not the answer, which is bad news for vendors and the channel.
Even while warning that data centers are facing huge problems that can be addressed in part by smaller, more powerful and power-efficient servers, Gartner is advising customers to try to get an extra year or two out of their existing servers. The advice is not as contradictory as it sounds, says Rakesh Kumar, research vice president at Gartner.
