Humor in Technology
One of Microsoft's finest technicans was drafted and sent to boot camp. At the rifle range, he was given some instruction, a rifle, and bullets. He fired several shots at the target. The report came from the target area that all attempts had completely missed the target.
The technician looked at his rifle, and then at the target. He looked at the rifle again, and then at the target again. He put his finger over the end of the rifle barrel and squeezed the trigger with his other hand. The end of his finger was blown off, whereupon he yelled toward the target area, "It's leaving here just fine, the trouble must be at your end!" Memorable Quote --Engineer at the Advanced Computing Systems Division of IBM, 1968, commenting on the microchip.

Fake Recycling Events in Pittsburgh Uncovered BAN followed the trucks, to two area warehouses and then some days later observed the waste being reloaded onto 40 foot ocean-going containers. They then tracked 6 of the containers to Hong Kong and one to South Africa. BAN has warned authorities about their imminent arrival and actions are now underway to halt and return the shipments.
Beyond Facebook Watch the video on Forbes Network How much work can you do on an iPhone? It's hard not to look at an iPhone and wonder whether you could chuck your laptop and use it to do all your work instead. After all, it offers e-mail, always-on Web access, and an ever increasing roster of applications, many of which have business use in mind.Add in the fact that laptops are awkward to carry to meetings, and that their batteries never last as long as the work you need to do, and the appeal of replacing a laptop with an iPhone becomes readily apparent. So in the spirit of finding out how far you can you go relying exclusively on an iPhone for work, I decided to spend a month using an iPhone 3G in place of my laptop wherever possible.
Microsoft Bing Goes Live
Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)'s Bing search engine went live in the United States over the weekend, formally launching the company's latest attempt to wrest a larger slice of the lucrative online search market from incumbent Google (NSDQ: GOOG). As of Monday, Bing.com featured a home page festooned with colorful hot air balloons rising against a desert backdrop. Tuesday the design changed to windmills. The page also included links to specific search categories, such as news, videos, shopping, maps, and travel.Bing, according to Microsoft, is designed to deliver a more functional experience than existing search engines, including Google's. That is, queries entered into Bing yield not only information related to the search term, but also links to sites where users can make purchases and engage in other related activities.
Microsoft Will Offer Windows 7 Starter Edition Globally, Drop Three App Limit
Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 Starter edition will have features not previously found on starter editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. According to Microsoft, previous starter versions of Windows only allowed users to run three programs simultaneously. The three program limit didn't count background applications, wireless, Bluetooth, and system tools.Microsoft points out that the expanded capabilities of Windows 7 starter edition will make the starter version attractive to netbook users, but the starter version isn't the only version that will operate on netbooks. Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc wrote in a blog post that, "[Microsoft has] decided to make some changes compared to previous Starter editions."
