Hi Jeannie,
It was a great weekend! We had 293 dogs enter with 152 dogs passing (we had a number of scratches). Sunday's rain did not interfere with the event. The birds were put in a plastic bags and kept dry, and by late afternoon it was beautiful! The cold weather has kept the dogwoods from blooming and we all missed the blooms.
I think everyone had a good time. A number of us had dinner Sunday night after the event; there were some good stories shared. Bob Hughes came by and brought some of his homemade mayhaw jelly for the judges to enjoy with their breakfast. Master A's judges played a great joke on one of their handlers and everyone was happy to see Jerry Perkins at the event.
Happy Training,
Sam Ferguson
Membership
A number of you have not renewed your THRC membership. We hope that is just an oversight. There was a membership application in the centerfold of the directory you received in December or you can print a form from the THRC website. The membership roster was updated March 30th, so check the webpage if you are not sure if you paid your 2010 membership. Remember, only THRC club members may train on the grounds.
Updates on 2010 Master National Event:

At the annual meeting, the MN Board of Directors voted unanimously to reduce the entry fee by $25.00 for the second year in a row. The entry fee is now down to $250.00.
Venders will be allowed to sell merchandise at MN events. There will be a designated area for sales to take place. Merchandise will be required to get a permit from MNRC and there will be a fee associated with this permit.
If you are planning on attending the event and you have not booked your hotel reservation, do so ASAP. The host hotel is a casino and they have free full breakfast daily. Click on the MN logo for more info.
Retiring dogs will be recognized at the Handler's Banquet. If you have a dog that is retiring or has retired and you have not sent a photo(s), please get them to me at samuellferguson@gmail.com so they can be added to the presentation that will be played during the banquet.
New information of interest:
-
We will run three (3) flights. This was approved by the AKC last October at the Handler's meeting. The fifth and sixth judges will be Clarence Claus Jr., Region 1 (judged for us March 2007) and Bill Blochowiak, Region 3.
-
Remember the qualifying period starts August 1 and ends July 31. Within this period of time, you are required to successfully pass six (6) Master weekend hunt tests. These six (6) tests can include the number required to obtain your Master Hunter title. That is six (6) if you skip the Senior title or five (5), if you come up from a Senior title, but then you will need one (1) more to get the total of six (6).

Donation Chase Away K9 Cancer
THRC is sending a $300.00 check to "Chase Away K9 Cancer". Thanks to everyone who purchased a tumbler (or made a donation)! We sold the tumblers at the awards Sunday and they were sold out before everyone got in.
Alice Rodriguez worked with Lori Alter from A to Z Promotions and we had 50 insulated thermal coffee tumblers with the THRC logo. The Master National is working with them also at this year’s event. “Be Your Dog’s Hero “ or their friends' hero!
Toxic to Our Dogs
Spring is here and lots of us are working in our yards. Remember that cocoa mulch products are HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats. They contain the same active ingredient as chocolate and smell just like it, which is appealing to dogs and makes this even more dangerous. For more information on this, visit
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoamulch.asp.
