In Case You Missed It...
Hogan recently hosted a webinar that focused on leadership derailment and how pressure magnifies personality characteristics that lead to bad decisions, alienated coworkers, and decreased team morale.
Every leader has personality characteristics that threaten his or her success. As the only business-related assessment that measures these performance risks, the Hogan Development Survey provides valuable feedback for strategic self-awareness, which is the key to achieving success in the workplace. The HDS is part of our comprehensive suite of assessments designed exclusively to help companies excel at selection, development, and talent management.
We invite you to learn more about Hogan and our premiere leadership derailment assessment by selecting from the following choices:
• How does it work? HDS Sample Report
• I missed it! Watch the Webinar
• I want to learn more about derailment. White Paper: Management Derailment
For more information or to provide feedback on the webinar, please email or call us at 800.756.0632.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Validity
From Hogan's Blog: The Science of Personality
For test developers and test users, validity is the most fundamental
concept in psychological assessment. It is also a surprisingly vexed
notion. A review of the literature on validity composed by the “great
minds” (e.g., Lee Cronbach, Jane Loevinger, Paul Meehl) will give you a case of vertigo. The definition of validity found in the AERA Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing is a statement by a committee—in the same way that a camel is a horse designed by a committee. Read more here.
Case Study:
Company Reduces Turnover by 30% Using the MVPI
The
Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) reveals a person's core
values, goals and interests. This is invaluable information for
determining the kinds of environments in which the person will perform
best, and the kind of culture the person will create as a leader.
A large multi-national financial services provider wanted to improve
their sales representative selection process in an effort to increase
employee satisfaction and decrease turnover. Prior to implementation of
the MVPI, the organization reported a turnover rate of 48%. After
using the MVPI for one year, analyses showed a significant reduction in
sales representative turnover.

This two-day workshop will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of how to use and interpret Hogan's three industry-standard personality-based assessments:
Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI). The HPI measures normal personality as it relates to day-to-day work demands, and has been used for 25 years to predict employee performance and development needs.
Hogan Development Survey (HDS). The HDS measures 11 career-derailing tendencies that can impede work relationships, hinder productivity, or limit overall career potential.
Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI). The MVPI evaluates the fit between an individual’s values and an organization’s culture, and also predicts occupational success and satisfaction.
The workshop has been approved for 13 recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Psychologists also earn 13 continuing education credits, as approved by the American Psychological Association (APA).
