The Artist's Life . . .
The next few months are very busy for me with classes, a beach workshop, an art auction and art openings!

I am also jumping into cyberspace with both feet, launching a new
blog and a new Facebook Page . You can also connect with me on Linkedin.

I wanted to share with you this inspiring story from a woman who  lost her husband of 60 years, but mustered up the courage to step out on her own and take one of my workshops.

"As I close the door on a beautiful life I am thankful for the new
dimensions that are opening for me. It took courage for me to break
away from what is safe and familiar. You have been that nudge that has made the difference - a shining light for me to follow, a new world for me to explore.Thank you Mary. God Bless you."

I think Virginia is really the shining presence lighting the way for all of us (and she reminded me why I teach!)

Thank you Virginia!
Cannon Beach Workshop

"I consider it an honor to have attended Mary Marquiss's workshop in Cannon Beach last year! I got so much out of it as an several new friends! Thanks looking forward to June's workshop!"

Len Cheney, Greensboro, NC

There are four places left in my June 17th - 20th Cannon Beach Watercolor Workshop. This is a delicious opportunity to explore watercolor at cozy Cannon Beach and take advantage of the discounted rooms at The Ocean Lodge available to my students.

The workshop starts Sunday night when we will pop the corks on a
Zinfandel and Pinot Gris created by Bend Wine Cellar. These are two of the wine labels I created for their series of wine.

Monday we will bring the Newport Lighthouse and cottage to life, Tuesday we will paint florals, and Wednesday the focus will be figures walking along the water with reflections.

Art Exhibition at High Lakes Elementary School!

On Wednesday evening, May 2nd, High Lakes Elememntary School in Bend will host an Art Show displaying 600 flower paintings from this year's art programs.

I had the pleasure of being the Artist-in-Residence for High Lake Elementary School this year. I developed the art curriculum and helped each grade bring flowers to life with watercolor.

At the exhibition you will see flowers of many vibrant colors! Delightful daisies, tulips, lilies, poppies, fuchsia and orchids will bloom throughout the school’s gym - each one as unique as the child who created it!

Art Show Hours:
6 to 7 pm - K thru 2nd grade
7 to 8 pm - 3rd thru 5th grade
