FHS students invited to create mural on the set of Saturday Night Live
As part of the Urban Arts Partnership, FHS Students spent a day with NBC Universal employees creating a 3D eco-trash mural with acclaimed environmental artist Tom Deininger. All the materials were re-purposed, recycled or reclaimed from throughout the company with the idea of encouraging people to reflect on creative ways to reduce or eliminate unwanted items from our consumer waste stream. FHS is celebrated at Time Warner Event
The News Literacy Project showcased its work in New York City schools at an Oct. 26 reception sponsored by Time Warner and attended by news media leaders and other well-known guests including CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr., and NPR President Vivian Schiller. ABC News President David Westin co-hosted the event. The News Literacy Project brings together journalists from across the media world to middle and high school students. "We and They" Classes Present Weimar Projects
On October 29th, the three 9th grade We and They classes converged on the library to present their projects on the Weimar Republic. The presentation was the second collaboration of the year for We and They teachers James, Jessica and Katie. Peer Leaders Meet at FHS
On Thursday October 1st 2009, FHS's first ever Team 5 Peer Leaders met for the very first time. The first item on their agenda was to create goals for their distinct grade levels and promote enthusiasm and community for the first ever Team 5 Spirit Day. Read more.
Reflections from the Senior Institute, Class of 2010
After doing well junior year, I expected my senior year to be a walk in the park as far as my classes were concerned and I was excited and wanted to cruise to graduation. However, this year is everything but because I chose to be a part of Senior Institute. The workload is durable but when one lacks time management, deadline after deadline just passes you by…kind of like a sneak attack. Read more.
