News from the Farm

Can you believe the holidays are right around the corner? This year has flown by and we have so much to be thankful for, including all of you who help make Clif Family Winery & Farm such a great place to work! This month we have a lot of exciting news to share from new (food) products and wine releases to a great new web site. And don't forget to stop by for a visit in our tasting room if you are in the Napa Valley. We would love to host you.

Gary & Kit's Gourmet Mountain Mix Launches

The big news around here is the launch of Gary & Kit's Gourmet Mountain Mix. These gourmet fruit and nut mixes were made to pair with each of our wines and come in four delicious flavors — Sundried Berry & Cherries, Smoked Paprika Almonds, Glazed Walnut & Apricots and Roasted Pistachio & Almonds. New Look & Feel

You may notice that our newsletter has a new look and feel. This is inspired by our shiny brand new web site. We really like the new look. We hope you do too! Take a look for yourself.

The Perfect Turkey Wine

We've tried them all and we think that our Climber White goes best with Turkey. Dry white wines are a great pairing with turkey and the blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Riesling, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc in our newly released 2008 vintage, pairs with everything from the turkey to the side dishes. Recipe from the Farm: Herb Glazed Lamb Chops

Be sure to use fresh herbs for this easy to prepare and excellent dish. We recommend pairing with our 2006 kit's killer cab. This recipe was inspired by our Roasted Pistachio & Almonds Mountain Mix and kit's killer cab pairing.

4 (1 inch-thick) lamb loin chops
4 small garlic cloves, pressed
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, lightly chopped
1 tablespoon fresh thyme, lightly crushed
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Sea salt and pepper

Preparation
Combine herbs, garlic, balsamic vinegar & 1 half of the olive oil in a shallow baking dish. Salt and pepper both sides of lamb chop and add to herb mixture. Toss to coat. Marinate at room temperature for 15 minute and up to 1 hour.

Heat remaining olive oil in a large, oven proof skillet over medium-high heat. Add lamb chops and cook for 2 minutes on each side, or until they begin to turn brown in color. Transfer to the oven and roast for an additional 8 minutes, turning once, for medium rare. Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Happy Thanksgiving!
