An Apple a Day… Researchers suggest that an apple’s antioxidant flavonoid compounds and its vitamin C both play an important role in preventing LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and inhibits inflammation. Also, apples are rich in pectin, which is a form a soluble fiber that helps to lower cholesterol. Basically- between preventing oxidation and inflammation as well as lowering cholesterol, an apple might just be a great defense against a heart attack!
So celebrate the start of fall by enjoying one of the many varieties of apples available and reap all the heart healthy benefits of this wonder fruit!

Also, some chocolate can actually provide some health benefits. Dark chocolate contain phytochemicals that may aid in the prevention of heart disease and may decrease the effects of sugar on your teeth! We love Chocolove Dark and Extra Dark chocolate bars! Recipe of the Month Baked Apples
4 granny smith apples, cored and top sliced off Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl combine raisins, walnuts, cinnamon, brown sugar, lemon juice and zest. Stuff apples with mixture and place in small baking dish. Add 1/2 cup cider or water and bake for 30 minutes or until tender. |
