スクール･オブ･ハードノックスは、芸術監督･ヨシコ・チュウマのヴィジョンに賛同する振付家、演出家、俳優、ミュージシャン、デザイナー、ヴィジュアル･アーティストによって構成されるニューヨーク・ベースのアーティスト集団。1980年の創立以来、アメリカ国内はもとより、アジア、ヨーロッパに渡り、７５以上のオリジナル作品を創作している。


Yoshiko Chuma: a native of Japan, came to the US in 1976, and has created more than 60 full-length performance works for theatres and site-specific venues with her company and as commissioned works throughout the world.  She received a 1984 BESSIE award for choreography, four BESSIES were awarded to her company productions and artists 1987-1998 and a 2007 BESSIE for Sustained achievement. 

The School of Hard Knocks is a New York-based collective of performing, visual artists and designers working under the Artistic Direction of Yoshiko Chuma. Since the its premiere at the 1980 Venice Biennale, this award-winning company has created and performed more than 75 original works in the United States, Asia, and Europe.
