August Show Postponed Due to Rain

Please note that the COLORADO STOCK HORSE ASSOCIATION OPEN HORSE SHOW scheduled for Sunday, August 17 was CANCELLED due to weather.

Our September 21 show will be double-judged. See you in September!

We are having a GREAT 2008 Season - Thanks to all of you!!!!!!

So far this year, the first three shows of 2008, the May, June and July shows have been a huge success for CSHA.  We want to thank all of our participants and helpers for making this show series so special and fun.  We truly treasure all of you and wanted you to know!  We aren't sure if all of you know that the CSHA shows are organized and put together by the board of volunteers.  They put this show together and devote their time because they love horses and seeing riders and horses work together and have fun.  We thought you might like to "meet" the members of our board so we have provided pictures and quick bios of them.  We hope you enjoy this and remember to say a quick thanks at the shows for all the hard work they put in.

Daily High Point Awards:  Members and non-members are eligible.  The daily highpoint awards are awarded separately for the English and Western divisions in each age group.  These prizes are handed out at the end of each show.  The participant with the highest cumultaive point total in English and then in Western wins the unique daily highpoint (Champion) prize, with a gorgeous ribbon for the second place overall winner (Reserve Champion).

Year End Awards:  Members only eligible.  These prizes change from year to year and are highly coveted as some of the best open show prizes around! Year end prizes are awarded for the following divisions/age groups.

Meet the CSHA Board Members:

anne.jpg

  Anne Chism

President/Show Manager

Anne Chism and her husband, Jack, live in Arvada on a small horse property with her AQHA mare, Eagle Joe Puzzle, German Shepherd, Meagan and three cats.  Anne started riding at age 23 and quickly became interested in dressage.  She rode and showed in that discipline before changing to Western and all-around showing in 1994.  She has shown both open and AQHA shows since then and has been blessed to have some very good horses and a great, supportive husband.  Anne has been president of CSHA since 2003.

anner.jpg

   Anne Raskey

 Vice President/Awards

Anne Raskey is a medical technologist and a native of Michigan, but she has been in Colorado for 30 years which surely qualifies her for semi-native status!  She showed for many years on the hunter/jumper circuit before becoming involved in Quarter Horses with "Submariner", now retired.  she became involved in CSHA after showing with them for several years and making many enduring friendships.  She currently shows Legends Forever, a.k.a. Hotdog, and in a return to her roots, has taught him to jump and is having great success in beginning hunter shows.

  Patricia Rothdiener

Secretary (Corresponding)

Patricia enjoys -- taking care and working with her horse Te and her rabbits -- family get togethers -- and trying to keep up with old friendships.  Patricia acquired her "last" horse, a 13-year old appaloosa mare, Te -- when Te was a yearling.  Te has become a dependable companion and show horse.   They love the shows and the people who attend them.   Patricia also shows Himilayan bunnies (bunnies are easier to show -- toss in a cage, no leg wrapping or baths involved and they weigh only 4#).  Te and Patricia's favorite class is Trail where horse and rider work as one to complete obstacles perfectly.

Sharon Carnefix

Board Member

Sharon has been married to her wonderful husband for a little over 2 years and has a lovely teenage daughter and a great adult step-daughter.  She has been working for the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder for almost 19 years.  She has had the horse bug since she was a little girl and worked hard to convince her parents that she needed one.  Sharon has now had horses for over 34 years.  In that time she participated for many years in 4H, trained professionally for a few years, showed heavily in the RMPHA, where she won a couple of futurities. She has also enjoyed trail riding.  Sharon finally reached her dream of having a place of her own to keep her horses, she says its wonderful to look out the window and see them in the backyard!  She has been the person responsible for selecting and working with judges for CSHA for two years and has enjoyed all the new friends she has made.

Pamela Himes

Board Member/Webmaster

Pamela Himes is a “born again” horse enthusiast who is in the process of reentering the world of competitive equestrian sports after three decades off.  Married with two grown children, Pam shows her Quarter Horse mare “Willow Is Impressive” in Showmanship at Halter, and her up-and-coming Quarter Horse gelding “Pistol Pakn Royal Te” in Hunter Under Saddle.  Her focus and goals in the next few years will be AQHA, IBHA, and USEF shows with both.  Pam also created and manages the website for ARS Equestrian Center, www.arisingstareqcenter.com, as well as managing the website for CO Stock Horse, www.coloradostockhorse.com. As a teenager, Pam trained and showed Quarter Horses, instructed students, and judged shows at the local level.  She has two Texas state championships and one National Championship earned primarily with her Quarter horse mare, Turvy Girl.

        Renee Dierdorff

Board Member/Newsletter Coordinator

Renee Dierdorff is an accountant by day, but a family woman and horse lover every other possible moment.  Renee shows her AQHA horse All Bets Are Good, a.k.a Cobin in Quarter horse shows, and her arabians: BellaDonnaDova and Sneakin Midnite Kisses, a.k.a. Onyx in AHA shows.  She also loves to show in open shows because of the teamwork, good sportsmanship and camraderie.  The CSHA crew has quickly become some her of her dearest friends.  Renee is new to the board in 2008 and serves as the newsletter coordinator.  Renee loves to meet new people and share horse experiences with everyone she meets.

  Dessa Bergquist

Treasurer

Dessa is the CSHA treasurer, responsible for tracking our finacial records and keeping us all in budget!  Unfortunately Dessa's very busy schedule keeps her hopping so we decided to write her little bio for her!  Dessa is a CPA by trade and loves riding and spending time with her horse China.  She is an integral part of our team!

SAVE GAS - RIDE A HORSE!

HONEST HARRY'S NEW & USED HORSES

I can save you money on gas!

Alright folks, step right up! You don't want to pay $4.69 for gas, no problem, I have the perfect vehicle for you. Needs no gas, no oil, or even a battery, just a little grass and water will do these animals fine. Now everyone has different needs, so choose from the following models:

1. Trail Horse - Your average run around town animal. Has the energy to get where you are going, the brain to find the best way to go, big enough to carry the normal sized American.

2. The Arabian - perfect for those who travel long distances in a day and try to multi task while driving. Although the Arabian may not go to your home or office with out specific instruction, it WILL go somewhere.

3. The Draft - Calling all soccer moms. This big guy can carry the whole team, their gear and snacks. Just like the big machines, this guy will require more fuel, and his shoes will be more expensive than the compact model.

4. The Western Pleasure - The right car for the high end white collar workers. This animal works harder and requires more special knowledge so only the best can figure this out. Be sure to take your cell phone. You won't be stuck in traffic, you just won't be getting anywhere fast.

5. The Parelli - Salesmen, stay at home moms, and high school kids will all enjoy this dream. You can load him down with flapping Wal-mart bags, ask him to walk in places a horse won't fit, and you can dance with him as you listen to the latest tunes.

6. The Ranch - The most dependable animal available. He will go where ever you ask him to, at whatever speed is appropriate. You can tie him to the stop sign and he will be there when you get back. Best of all, this model has been specially engineered to be able to go without water for days and stay fat and slick by eating sagebrush and dead prairie grass.

Of course all models are available in base colors (sorrel, bay, black) Special order colors are available (dun, gray, palomino) and for an additional fee, custom paint jobs are also available (overo, tobiano, blanket, leopard).

No horse is sold with a warranty, however maintenance plans are available in the event brakes, steering, or accelerator fail.
