Leovich Landing The French River Connection has partnered with the Dudley Conservation Land Trust and an Oxford citizens' group to purchase 4 acres located at 52 Dudley Road in Oxford, to be known as Leovich Landing, honoring the present owner. The property is perfect for a paddling access point and a trailhead on the proposed French River Greenway. The Dudley Conservation Land Trust will own the property, the Oxford Conservation Commission will hold the conservation restriction, which ensures that the property will be used as intended, and the French River Connection will be responsible for stewardship. This is an important step in realizing our vision of making the French River a valued community resource. We will need to raise $70,000 by April 30 to purchase the property, pay closing costs, and do some initial stewardship to make the property useable. If we are unable to purchase it, the property will be developed. The French River Connection Board of Directors has committed $2,000 of our funds to this project, and $500 for fundraising expenses. Board members have pledged $900 as individuals. We have submitted a State Conservation Partnership grant request and three foundation grants which if successful will pay much of the cost, but we still need to do some community fundraising. I am asking for your help in the form of a donation in support of this project. Please send your tax-deductible contribution, payable to the Dudley Conservation Land Trust, to 169 Old Webster Road, Oxford MA 01540. Please feel free to email or call me at (508) 943-2698 if you have questions. Thank you very much for contributing to this important project. Here is the advertising piece we're using for fundraising. Below are some pictures of the property. |
