Cheers to great beer! Please enjoy our October newsletter containing this month's Cameron's Cask Night invite.
Cameron's Wins A Handful of Medals at the
Canadian Brewing Awards
The 2008 Canadian Brewing Awards were held on the same night as our
September Cask Night. We were receiving texts throughout the night
from our brewers at the awards, but most attendees had left our Cask
Night before the results were in. Here they are the official
results...
We are proud to announce that Cameron's Brewing Company picked up 3
medals including one gold medal and two silver medals.
"It is quite a rush for all of us at Cameron's. We submitted our four
beers to be judged and we walked away with three awards. It was quite
a night" said Head Brewer Jason Britton.
Here is a breakdown of our awards and the categories where we won them.
Note: The Links will take you to a video description of each brand
North American Style Dark Lager Category: Cameron's Dark 266 (Gold Medal)
North American Amber/Red Ale Category: Cameron's Auburn Ale (Silver Medal)
The Cream Ale Category: Cameron's Cream Ale (Silver Medal)
The
medal for our Dark 266 was the first award of the night and when
announced at our Cask Night the crowd cheered and raised a glass in
celebration.
"I have been raving about the Dark
266 for years, so hearing that it has won an award as Canada's Best
Dark Lager makes me feel like a beer pioneer amongst my friends" joked
one of the attendants at our Cask Night.
Cask Night Thursday October 30th (Devil's Night)
Last month's Cask Night was simple, yet delicious creation. The cask was named L-Squared because it was a balanced mix of our Cameron's Lager and our Dark 266 Lager and then dry hopped with a Golding Hop - one we have never used before. The end result - a very drinkable, yet flavourful dark lager mix.
This month’s Cameron’s ‘Let’s Drink the Cask Night’ will be on Thursday October 30th (devil's night), from 6:00 - 8:00pm.
Costumes will be welcomed to this Cask Night. There will be prizing for best costumes. Adam at the brewery has already predicted that he will take home the top costume prize.
Don't fret if you are coming from work and don't have a costume, you will still be more than welcome to attend.
Cameron’s Cask Nights are a casual and intimate monthly event at the brewery. The guestlist only event is $5 for admission however, your admission covers a selection of food from Whole Foods Markets as well as a glass of the cask and two additional drink tickets. As well, your $5 admission can be applied to a beer or swag purchase on your way out.
For those who have not been to the brewery before, this is a great
chance to meet the folks behind the scenes and to tour our facility.
As well, it’s a great time to pick up some brewery fresh Cameron’s beer for the weekend.
We traditionally tap the Cask at approximately 6:15pm.
Whole Foods Markets continue to graciously donate some delicious smokehouse selections specifically made to pair with the casked brew.
As always, the event is capped at 60 people to keep it intimate and
to ensure everyone gets a taste of the cask. RSVP’s always come
flooding in, so confirm your attendance as quickly as possible.
We
encourage everyone to invite a guest (or a few) to join us. Just indicate how many people will be coming with you on your
RSVP.
For any questions or to RSVP (if you haven’t already), email mike@cameronsbrewing.com
Our on-site retail store will be open throughout Cask Night for those that want to pick up beer for the weekend.

We also now have a blog so check it out.
Hope to see you all on Thursday.
Did You Know? | Cask Beers
So what is Cask Beer?
Cask ale or cask-conditioned beer is the term for unfiltered and unpasteurised beer which is conditioned (including secondary fermentation) and served from a cask, usually without additional nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure. The decrease in carbonation delivers a 'flatter' body, but pronounces the ingredients and flavours. Cask ale may also be referred to as real ale, a term coined by the Campaign for Real Ale.
Where can I find it?
There are a handful of pubs in Ontario that feature cask beers. One of the leaders is Bar Volo in Toronto. Volo hold an annual event called Cask Days - this year's was held last weekend.
The small eccentric café featured six stations where ticket holders
could obtain samples from the various breweries who participated. There
were 34 breweries represented, offering 50 cask conditioned ales and
lagers along with multiple (13) draught choices, a new high for cask
days.
Cameron's produced two casks for the event. The first was a casked brew that we had tried before at one of our Cask Nights called Clove & Dagger. The second was an entirely new creation called High Hop Silver - a blend of our two silver medal winning beers Cream Ale and Auburn Ale and then dry hopped.
The High Hop Silver was a favorite among many of the beer critics including longtime friend of the brewery Stephen Beaumont and our good pal Troy Burtch at Great Canadian Pubs and Beer.
A special hats off to Ralph from Bar Volo for once again bringing cask brews to the forefront and for doing it with class.
