Dear Friends of the Mid-Atlantic Catholic Schools Consortium, November is a month of remembrance and Thanksgiving. We begin the month with All Saints Day and honor all of the saints, known and unknown. On All Souls Day and throughout the month of November, our Catholic school students will remember with prayer and thanksgiving all of the faithful departed and the generosity of the many benefactors of our Catholic schools. The Consortium has published its first Annual Report which describes our early work and outlines our strategic goals for the 2008-2009 year. Please read the Report and share your thoughts and recommendations with us. The inaugural session of the Pastor and Principal Leadership Institute was held in October and brought together 24 teams of pastors and principals from our six (arch)dioceses. The teams are working on a specific project for their school community and will meet together again in February and June. Dr. Ronald J. Valenti, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, will host the Interdiocesan meeting of the superintendents and the staff members of the Catholic schools offices in the six (arch)dioceses. They will gather in Annapolis, MD later this month to engage in shared professional development and benefit from experiences and programs of their colleagues. The Consortium welcomes Ms. Nanette Mack as the Director of Research. Previously she served the University of Maryland University College for 24 years, and most recently as Associate Provost for Student Affairs. A member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in College Park, she has a BA in Mathematics and a MS in Operations Research from Michigan State University. We are so delighted that she has joined us. As we approach Thanksgiving Day, I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to our many donors and to all who have supported the formation and work of the Consortium. Your advice, counsel, resources and prayers have enabled our early successes. May God bless you and all who work to make excellent Catholic schools accessible and available for our students. With best wishes,
