Waterjet machining is a viable alternative to standard cutting/machining methods such as plasma, oxy acetylene, band saw, laser, wire EDM, and conventional milling. All have inherent benefits, but can’t compete with waterjet cutting when it comes to kerf allowing close parts nesting and stacking of material to produce more parts in one run. (This is particularly important with expensive alloys.) Its “cold cutting” method leaves no heat affected zones and edge finish is very clean requiring little or no secondary processing. We have the privilege to work with Aptera Motors who are revolutionizing transportation with their highly efficient vehicles! The 2e has a range of over 100 miles per charge, can reach speeds up to 90 mph, and accelerates from 0-60 in less than 10 seconds. During development, our fast turn around cutting service was just what Aptera needed to meet stringent prototyping deadlines. We then cut parts for their assembly and tooling fixtures, and now we are cutting steel and aluminum interior structural components for pre-production.

Think Thin to Thick
Waterjet cutting is very flexible for a wide range of material types and thicknesses. We cut lots of heavy plate with ease. We worked with one local industry that deals with heavy equipment to produce a custom made support flange. We met at the customer to gather necessary technical information to ensure that the finished part would properly mate up to an existing piece of equipment. We cut a sample piece, checked for fit, and then machined the final part and reamed the interface holes to a ± .001” tolerance to meet end requirements. It’s all down the Drain!
It’s all down the drain now with this travertine shower drain cover! We cut this for our customer Marble Expressions who installed it in a custom home project. The precision of waterjet cutting allows for creation of one-of-a-kind items, and in this case it completed a beautiful tiled shower installation with a smooth and continuous travertine floor. If you imagine it, we can cut it!
