Update On Sammy

We are very excited to announce that because of you, our amazing and dedicated Supporters, AADR has EXCEEDED our donation goal for Sammy!

We can not begin to express our deep gratitude to all of you who have been behind us and following Sammy's story. This precious and special little boy is now experiencing a whole new life that includes things he has never known such as a full tummy, a warm bed, kind words, a gentle touch, love, loyalty, and a home to call his own.

Sammy will be traveling this week to his new foster home. A long transport for someone like Sammy could be very uncomfortable and even painful. However, because of your generous donations, we are able to use a paid transport that will be able to meet all of Sammy's needs. He will be let out to get his bladder expressed at regular intervals and will have the best of care.

Please visit Sammy's Rescue and Recovery website to read about Sammy's journey and to see up to date videos and photos!

Sadly, Sammy is not the only one in desperate need of help. Every week, we receive pleas from high kill shelters to help save the terrified dachshund that was dumped at their location with only days or hours left to live. Many of them are abandoned because of complicated health issues that will cost hundreds or even thousands to fix. Those of you who follow our website, know that new faces are added all the time. We could not do this with out your support. Please consider giving a one time donation or signing up for monthly giving at our website donation page. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Foster Homes Needed

This is one of the times of year where pet abandonment is at its highest. Families are finding out that that cute fuzzy puppy they got for Christmas is no longer little any more and he can't feed himself He hasn't potty trained himself either and he likes to chew on the couch because no one taught him otherwise.

Like so many other shelters and myah.jpgrescues, AADR is inundated with needy dachshunds right now. Yes, financial support is vital to our operation but we also need loving homes that can care for them until we can place them in their forever home. If we don't have any open foster homes, we have to tell that 6 month old puppy who hasn't experienced life yet...we are so sorry but we can't. We have to tell that 10 year old senior who has never been away from her owner..No, we simply do not have the room.

Please, if you have an extra spot in your home for a dachshund with no where else to go, please consider fostering for AADR. It is an experience that is more rewarding than words. Not only do you get to watch a scared or depressed dachshund come to life under your gentle care, but you get to find them their happily ever after. You will build lasting friendships with these families who have promised to care for the one you saved.

All foster homes must be an approved AADR member by filling out an application. Click HERE for more details.
