Cricket's Happy Ending

cricket.jpg

For those of you who follow us on Sammy's Facebook page, you heard about Cricket. Cricket is a beautiful 10 year old long hair dachshund who was dumped at a shelter in VA. This little girl is so friendly and didn't deserve to be at that shelter! Her pull fee was $70.00 so we reached out to our facebook followers to help us with this fee. Heidi, one of our supporters, very generously donated to cover Cricket's pull fee. Not only were we able to pull her from that shelter but she already has a forever home with Betty in IA!! Betty has already adopted from AADR and was looking for the perfect dachshund to invite into her family. Now Cricket will live with her and her 12 year old doxie and 5 year old Boxer!

Thank you to Heidi, Betty, and all of our supporters who made this possible and who follow us via newsletters, Facebook, etc.

Now we need help in getting Cricket to her forever home!
(WV - IA). Please, if you have an hour or 2 to spare, please consider helping out in our transport train for Cricket! Click HERE to see the legs of the journey and if you can help, please contact Heather at reddachshundmom@gmail.com.

Year Round Secret Santa

 Meet Gina & Kaiser

secret santa.jpg

Gina and Kaiser are very special to AADR because they are "Year Round Secret Santas". They send gifts to many of our fostered dachshunds - like yummy chew bones, toys, toothbrushes, treats, blankets, etc. Gina & Kaiser have made life a lot easier for many fosters and for their foster moms. In return they receive pictures and videos of their gifts with the fosters and knowning they were able to help! If you are interested in becoming a "Year Round Secret Santa" please contact our Fundraising Chair at AADRFundraisingChair@gmail.com

Meet Sadie and Snickers

 sadie.JPG  snickers.JPG

Sadie and Snickers both come from rescue and have a wonderful forever mommy, Julie. She has been a great help and we are touched by her giving heart. She has expecially helped our president, Diane. Diane is a high volume foster home which means she has many needy dachshunds staying at her home at one time and many others coming thru her home for treatment until they can go to their permanent foster home. Since all of the daily needs of these dachshunds must come out of pocket for Diane, Julie has taken it upon herself to step in and support Diane and AADR as a whole.

Here is a note from Julie:

"I am blessed with all the wonderful things I have in my life and I feel like it is important for me to share what I do have with those that need it most.  I can't actively foster or transport, but I can do a little something as a secret santa so that is my way of trying to help out.  Diane works so tirelessly and spends all of her own money on her fosters and rescues - if I can do a little something to help that process out then I feel honored to be able to do so.  God has been very good to me so I want to offer that goodness to others.

I love Sadie and Snickers so much and can't imagine life without them - they are so special to me.  I just want to be able to allow others to have the same wonderful experience I had in working with AADR and being claimed by a fur baby.

Thanks again for all you guys do for the dear doggies - you guys rock!

Julie"

We are very thankful to Gina, Julie, and all of the other wonderful people who have been a "Secret Santa". These gifts make a world of difference for both the foster families and for the dachshunds who have never experienced simple things such as a warm blanket, a new toy, or a fresh bath. If you are interested in becoming a "Year Round Secret Santa" please contact our Fundraising Chair at AADRFundraisingChair@gmail.com

Cool Summer Treats

Help your pooch stay cool this summer with this easy frozen summer treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 c. water
  • 1 cube chicken or beef bullion
  • 4 small pieces of cooked chiken or beef

 Directions:

Dissolve bullion in water and cut meat into smaller pieces about 1/4 inch squares. Add meat to bullion. Pour into ice cube trays. Freeze for about 12 hours or until solid.

Update on Solei and Her Pups

pups.jpg

Solei and her pups are doing much better! The puppies, Phoenix and Seraphine, have opened their eyes and are scooting around and starting to show their little personalities. Solei loves her babies VERY much and is a wonderful mommy. She also has been able to enjoy a few moments of peace in the sun...which she LOVES!

Watching this little family flourish is incredibly heart-warming and reminds us why we do what we do!

We are getting close to the halfway mark of our $4,000.00 goal. As many of you know, this surgery came as quite the surprise and has set us back financially. Solei is well worth it but now we must raise the remaining amount to reach our goal so that we can continue in helping needy dachshunds.

If this little family's story has touched your heart, please consider donating to cover their surgery. Even the smallest amount makes the biggest difference when we work together!

As always, thank you for your continued support of AADR!

Featured Adoptables

LOGAN

logan in sun.JPG

Logan is a sweet 7 year old little boy who is being fostered in Alabama. His spunky and loving personality quickly wins over any heart he comes in contact with! Won't you consider giving little Logan a home of his own?

Here is an update from Logan's foster mom:

"Logan is such a love, not demanding, and just has flourished knowing he's loved, secure, and gets to go for walks and "go-for-rides"---and sleep in the big bed, of course! He's such a joy and always needs a blanket to bite (doesn't really chew on it much) when he's settling down for a nap. I suppose it's his "pacifier" that comforts him when he's sleepy. He gets really happy over mealtime and walks, and throws his head back, barks with joy, and turns in a circle. He is a good boy, and would make such a good companion dog for someone who wants a full time best buddy!"

DESI

desi.JPG

Desi is a 5 year old long haired little boy who was probably used for breeding until he was dumped at a shelter in Alabama. His foster mom says that he is one handsome and gentle boy! He is very laid back and just loves attention! Because he had a rough start to life, an experienced dachshund person would be best so that they can continue to show him how special and safe he is.

Please consider giving Desi the home he has been waiting for!
