| Advocates Creates Artistic Opportunities for People With Disabilities During Mental Health Awareness Month |
Amazing! That’s what people are saying about the talent that emerged at Advocates’ Mental Health Awareness Month community activities held in May.
From Grace Fogarty's documentary about recovery to our Annual Art Exhibit to the poetry and music at our Advocates' Music Jam and coffee house events, it was a great month.
Creating such opportunities is key to Advocates’ mission and we thank our co-sponsor, TheTown of Framingham, our host, The Framingham Library, and those whose continued financial support makes these opportunities possible. Click here to read about the art show in the MetroWest Daily News.

Advocates' Clients & Staff Help Get Results at State House Rally Against Proposed Budget Cuts
With the proposed state Senate budget eliminating programs for nearly 2/3 of people with disabilities in Massachusetts, Advocates' clients stood to lose vital employment and day services that help them cope and contribute to their communities. So when 1,500 people gathered at the State House on May 19 to protest the cuts, 125 Advocates' clients and staff made sure they were among them.
Their message was heard. In addition to approving a sales tax increase, the Senate approved key amendments restoring our important programs. Advocates thanks Senators.
