On Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) participated in a ground-breaking event for the new Hickman construction activity at the Mary Taylor House independent living facility. 

Located at 400 North Walnut Street in West Chester, this activity will provide 60 affordable senior housing units.

The County is providing $1.85 million toward this senior housing development in the Borough.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held at Gateway Park in Coatesville on Friday, March 19, 2010 to celebrate construction that's beginning on a 10-foot wide walking/biking trail which will run along the West Branch of the Brandywine Creek. 

DCD committed $1,000,000 in County funding to the Coatesville Riverwalk project.
