RLO Open House Event

The Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) provided Residential Living Options with $18,712 in 2009 DCD_logo.jpeg.jpgCommunity Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for office space improvements at their new location, 330 West Market Street in West Chester.

Residential Living Options (RLO) provides specialized services to the disabled community.  They provide long-term housing counseling with a goal toward independent, accessible and affordable housing for people living with developmental disabilties, physical disabilities and mental health disabilities.

RLO's new location is providing increased accessibility for their client base, as well as ease of access to the Building Bridges case management program for homeless individuals and families.  Mutual benefits are resulting, in terms of successfully referring clients and providing them with essential community services.

La Comunidad Hispana's New Facility

In support of La Comunidad Hispana's move to a new facility, DCD provided $135,000 of 2009 CDBG funds for site improvements including new sidewalks, curbs, and parking lot.

La Comunidad Hispana is a human service organization that provides services to the Latino community and to other vulnerable residents in Chester County in the areas of health care, social services, education and community services.  

The new, specially-designed facility ensures that the organization has the capacity to expand its services to address the growing demand.  Furthermore, the single facility enables La Comunidad Hispana to continue to provide an array of holistic services in an integrated, client-centered environment.

 

Highlights of the new facility:

  • 9,100 square feet
  • 1.1 acres in Kennett Township
  • Located on SCCOOT (Southern Chester County Organization on Transportation) bus line
  • LEED-Certified “Green” Building
    • Consumes 25% less energy
    • Plumbing fixtures use 30% less water
    • 75% of all construction waste will be recycled
    • 35%+ energy purchased from green source
  • Project Salud Health Center:
    • Double the square footage of previous facility
    • 6 exam rooms
    • Diagnostic Room for Ultrasound & Physical Therapy
    • Laboratory
    • Designated play area for patients’ children
  • Social Services: private rooms for individual and family counseling
  • Education: two state-of-the-art training rooms, one large conference room
