Chester County's 2008 Emergency Shelter Statistics

The Chester County Department of Community Development allocates Federal, State and County funds to activities that contribute to the continuum of support for homeless families and individuals in Chester County.  DCD provides funding to eight emergency shelters in the county. DCD_logo.jpeg.jpg

Chester County-funded emergency shelters submit Consolidated Plan Quarterly Reports to DCD which provide demographic information on the populations that are served at each shelter.

Using the quarterly reports, DCD has compiled emergency shelter data from 2008.

Homeless Single Women's Taskforce

With local communities of faith offering to serve as host shelters for two-week periods, and through donations of supplies and equipment from people and organizations across Chester County, The Homeless Single Women’s Taskforce continued to operate a roaming shelter from October 2008 through April 5, 2009.  As a result of this innovative and caring group, there were 32 single homeless women sheltered during that time period.
