The Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) is requesting assistance from recepients of this newsletter in recruiting a local resident to serve as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member to work for DCD over the next year or two to assist with the development of activities related to the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
While the position is only guaranteed funding for one (1) year, there may be an opportunity to continue funding for an additional year or two. Please refer to the job posting for further details.
Candidates for AmeriCorps*VISTA programs generally come from two sources. The first source is recent college graduates who may be interested in gaining experience in community service before entering the general workforce. There are several financial incentives connected to the AmeriCorps*VISTA program that make this a great opportunity for a recent college graduate.
The second source is retired individuals who may want to provide community service which utilizes their life and work experiences to assist others. The financial aspects of the program serve as supplement their retirement income.
