Pictured above, Chairman of the Chester County Board of Commissioners, Terence Farrell and County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone present Safe Harbor with a $200,000 check.

On April 18th, the Chester County Commissioners, with the support of the Chester County Department of Community DCD_logo.jpeg.jpgDevelopment (DCD), awarded an additional $200,000 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to Safe Harbor of Greater West Chester.  The funds will be used for renovatations and the expansion of Safe Harbor's facility, in order to increase their capacity to serve single homeless women.

A Daily Local News article titled "Hundreds Attend Safe Harbor Benefit" draws reader's attention to Safe Harbor's third annual fundraising event held at QVC headquarters in West Chester.

A Continuation of DCD's Commitment to Improve Safe Harbor Emergency Shelter

In 2008, the County awarded CDBG funding to Safe Harbor in the amount of $300,000 to support renovations to their building.

After the building expansion is completed, Safe Harbor will be able to provide shelter to 20 single homeless women.  This will create the availability of 16 more beds specifically for this at-risk population.

Safe Harbor is currently the only Chester County-funded emergency shelter which serves single homeless women.
