Announcing Pennsylvania's New Health Plan for Uninsured Adults with Pre-Existing Conditions

The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has just announced a new program called PA Fair Care – Pennsylvania’s health plan for uninsured adults with pre-existing conditions.finallogoonlyforwebsite.jpg

PA Fair Care will be administered statewide through a contract with Highmark Blue Shield.  Benefits will include preventive care, physician services, diagnostic testing, hospitalization, mental health services and prescriptions.  The cost to enrollees is a subsidized premium of $283.20 monthly.

To be eligible for PA Fair Care, applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful resident;
  • Be a Pennsylvania resident;
  • Have a pre-existing condition;
  • Be uninsured for the previous six months

To apply, applications can be completed online, or those without internet access may apply with assistance from the helpline 1-888-767-7015 (TTY 1-888-767-7018) Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Federal Stimulus:  Home Heating Equipment Rebate Program

Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), rebates are available for the purchase of qualifying high-efficiency home heating equipment.

Rebates are available only for Pennsylvania residents who live in single-family homes for the replacement of existing, operational equipment.

SafeLink Wireless® Offers Qualifying Customers FREE Cellular Service

The Community Action Partnership has just entered into a partnership with TracFone Wireless to promote its new program, SafeLink Wireless®. 

SafeLink Wireless® is a government-supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime minutes each month to qualifying customers.

Agencies can generate revenue by helping qualifying individuals obtain this free cell phone service.

SafeLink will pay $2 for every approved application it receives and agencies will get a check each quarter compensating it for its efforts.  Applications can be submitted here.
