Public Announcement:  CDBG-R Substantial Amendment to 2008 Action Plan

The Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) has been awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).DCD_logo.jpeg.jpg

CDBG-R (Community Development Block Grant - Recovery) funds will be used to fund infrastructure improvements in the Borough of Phoenixville and Housing Counseling/Foreclosure Prevention throughout Chester County, with specific concentration in the City of Coatesville.

A Substantial Amendment to the Consolidated Plan 2008 Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant - Recovery is available for public comment.  The comment period will last 7 days, from May 28 - June 4, 2009. 

Chester County to Receive $739, 173

DCD will administer the CDBG-R program with the goal of addressing the Recovery Act by:

  • Preserving and creating jobs and promoting economic recovery;
  • Assisting those most impacted by the recession;
  • Providing investment needed to increase economic efficiency;
  • Investing in transportation, environmental protection, or other infrastructure that will provide long-term benefits;
  • Minimizing or avoiding reductions in essential services.
