Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program

The Chester County Department of Community Development DCD_logo.jpeg.jpg(DCD) supports promoting Pennsylvania's property tax/rent rebate program, which is administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program provides property tax relief to 578,000 older residents and people with disabilities in PA.

When combined with property tax relief funded by slots gaming, this program will completely eliminate property taxes for an estimated 110,000 seniors this year.

The annual income limit, which excludes half of Social Security income, is $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters.

The Deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes and rent paid in 2008 has been extended to December 31, 2009.

The program provides rebates of up to $975 to eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, specifically for:

  • Widows and widowers age 50 and older;
  • People with disabilities age 18 and older.
