Chester County Receives $1,252,318 to Serve the Homeless

The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development's Office of Special Needs Assistance Programs Announces the 2008 Continuum of Care Awards  

Shelter Plus Care and Supportive Housing Programs that DCD_logo.jpeg.jpgwill receive funding in Chester County are highlighted in the link above.  

The Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) is the agency responsible for facilitating the Chester County Continuum of Care.  As such, DCD coordinates a countywide planning process designed to identify gaps in the existing social service system, develop strategies to meet those needs, and seek resources to fund the strategies.

Funding Status

Chester County has been awarded funding for all activities for which we applied, with the exception of a new Rapid Re-Housing program.

CoC Homelessness Assistance

The Continuum of Care in Chester County strives to assist homeless people to obtain and remain in permanent housing, increase their skills and income, and achieve greater independence.  Activities must benefit homeless persons and may include:

  • Permanent Housing
  • Transitional Housing
  • Supportive Services
