The Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) directed $499,985 in Community Revitalization Program (CRP) funding to Avondale's water system improvement project that was recently completed.
The Community Revitalization Program was created by the Chester County Board of Commissioners in 2001 as part of the Landscapes 21st Century Fund in order to assist the county's urban centers with their revitalization efforts.
Through the CRP, the County offers funding to the 15 Boroughs and the City of Coatesville for infrastructure and streetscape improvements that are conducive to attracting and retaining residents and businesses.
In order to qualify for funding, municipalities must have an Urban Revitalization Plan that has been approved by the Chester County Planning Commission and the Department of Community Development. Urban centers that receive funding are required to provide matching funds for these improvements.
