DCD Housing Activities Update

The summer of 2010 is turning into a very busy time for affordable housing construction in Chester County.  finallogoonlyforwebsite.jpg

The Chester County Department of Community Development (DCD) utilizes HOME Investment Partnership Program funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and County funds from the Housing Trust Program to increase the stock of affordable housing for low-income residents in Chester County.

Construction Projects Under Way

Earlier this year, the County Commissioners and DCD committed $1,350,000 toward the construction of 70 affordable senior rental units in the Borough of Elverson.  Construction on the new affordable housing development Hopewell Manor is starting now, and is projected to be completed in the Spring of 2011.

Also this year, the County Commissioners and DCD committed $1,850,000 toward The Hickman expansion project in West Chester, which will create 60 additional low-cost senior rental units.  The foundation is now complete and first floor concrete is taking form, with an estimated completion date of December 31, 2010.
