Voting for the PEPSI REFRESH COMPETITON begins today and ends on February 28th @ midnight. You may vote once a day and anyone can vote. We are currently holding at 121st place, but must be in the top 10 to be considered for the grant.
The Manifest Your Destiny House Program or The MYD House Program is the brain child of Actor/Activist Hill Harper & Filmmaker/Activist Brooke Abbott funded through Hill Harper's educational foundation, The Manifest Your Destiny Foundation.
In these hectic and competitive times many kids from different economic and social backgrounds are not receiving the information, motivation and nurturing they deserve. This makes it frustrating to understand the importance of fulfilling their destiny and taking place in our diverse society. The Manifest Your Destiny House will serve as a safe and cultivating sustainable environment where the youth of New Orleans will manifest their dreams. Surrounded by the tools they will need to grow provided by educators, mentors, leaders and diverse peers, each child will leave the house daily with a new positive experience.
The MYD House will be open and available to students 7 days a week. Providing afterschool tutoring, homework.study focus, mentorship, as well as educational and vocational workshops with a focus on sustainable living.
The MYD House will also serve as a tool in the resurrection of the NOLA youth community. The MYD House program is also taking a note from our First Lady and introducing our students to our own MYD House Kitchen Garden. The Garden of Dreams will not only provide fresh seasonal produce for our students & staff for the House's daily meals & provide fresh produce for students to take home, but will be the main source of product for a weekly farmer's market hosted & run by the students to provide fresh seasonal foods for the community of New Orleans.
The MYD House Program & Facility will not only provide a great place for students to grow, but for the community to grow and truly rebuild.
