"The human body is made to walk," says Kaiser Permanente CEO George Halvorson in this video. "And walking can add years to our lives." Yet we don't often take a good long walk - even us committed Undrivers!
On Thanksgiving Day, I joined car-free Undriver Anne Focke and 20 others for her annual walk around Seattle's Lake Union - a 6.5-mile loop. The weather was blustery but it was very enjoyable to take the time to see my familiar city anew, and to enjoy the company of friends both just-met and long-lost. (Interrupting our daily routine, seeing new possibilities - hey, that's Undriving!) What a great way to get into the holiday spirit.Want to track your footsteps? Every Body Walk!
