Greetings, Undrivers!

walkLet's walk! "The human body is made to walk," says Kaiser Permanente CEO George Halvorson in this video. "And walking can add years to our lives." Yet we don't often take a good long walk - even us committed Undrivers!

On Thanksgiving Day, I joined car-free Undriver Anne Focke and 20 others for her annual walk around Seattle's Lake Union - a 6.5-mile loop.  The weather was blustery but it was very enjoyable to take the time to see my familiar city anew, and to enjoy the company of friends both just-met and long-lost.  (Interrupting our daily routine, seeing new possibilities - hey, that's Undriving!) What a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

Want to track your footsteps? Every Body Walk!, powered by Kaiser Permanente, is committed to getting Americans up and moving. The free Every Body Walk! app enables you to personalize your walking plan, connect with walking communities, find out about the latest fitness trends and tips, and more. And, in case you have any doubts that walking is good for you, check out this video for an amazing enumeration of the many health benefits of a regular walking regime. Wow, let's all get walking!

Wishing you all the best in the holiday season, and thanks for Undriving,
Julia Field, Founder/Director

A million thanks to all, and watch for news of Undrive-a-thon 2012! (And if you missed out on donating, it's not too late!:)
