Alumni Receptions in Vietnam
La Trobe University alumni in Vietnam are invited to join a delegation from the University at events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Min City in March.
Alumni receptions will be held in both cities and will provide an opportunity for La Trobe alumni young and old to catch up with each other and to reminisce about their time as students. You will also have an opportunity to meet senior members of the University including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rosenberg.

What to do when you hit a dead end with a recruiter who has the job you want
As 2010 kicks off, there will be a rapid increase in those moving jobs over the coming months – resulting in a lot of salary negotiations taking place across the country. When looking for new employment, inevitably you will be asked by recruitment agencies and employers alike for your salary information. Don’t fall into the trap that many do – which is to tell all! A good negotiator understands that the moment you show your hand, your negotiation position dwindles. Now is the time to prepare for the inevitable salary negotiation questions to make sure that you don’t end up with a raw deal.

La Trobe boosts first round offers
Across all its campuses, La Trobe University has made an average of 29 per cent more first round offers than last year – 6,133, compared with 4,751 in 2009. On the main Melbourne campus at Bundoora the University made 4,149 offers, compared with 3,337 the previous year – an increase of 24.3%. Read more
Bendigo chapter committee nominations
The AGM of the Bendigo Chapter of Alumni Association will be held on Wednesday 24 March 2010. (See 'Future Events' section for details)
Nominations for Committee positions to be elected at the AGM are now open. Nominations close Wednesday the 10th of March. Forms are available on request from the Alumni Relations Office.
La Trobe Golden Key internationally recognised
La Trobe University students and staff were recognised for their campus and community service achievements at last week’s Golden Key Asia Pacific Conference in Sydney.
Golden Key International Honour Society, the world’s largest invitation only organisation for high-achieving students, awarded the La Trobe University Chapter two out of only a handful of awards at the annual Conference Presentation Ceremony. Read more

La Trobe University Faculty of Law and Management is pleased to announce the new School of Law alumni website. Visitors to the site can read about the impressive achievements of the alumni and students, register for upcoming law events and learn more about opportunities to become involved with the Law Alumni Chapter. 2010 Australian Alumni Awards in Indonesia
This annual award scheme is important in recognising the significant
contribution made by Australian alumni in their chosen profession when
they return to Indonesia.
Nominations
can be made online, by any member of the Indonesian and Australian
public, via the interactive Australian alumni website www.ozmate.org. The website also explains details of each award category.
Nominations
close on 19 February. The finalists will be announced in March and the
winners will be announced at a special ceremony in April 2010. Read more

Exciting new scholarships on-line in 2010 to help La Trobe students…
Providing access to higher education has been a fundamental principle upon which the University has operated since its inception more than 40 years ago.
Therefore the La Trobe University Foundation is working to develop a program of scholarships to support students in financial need. The program will commence in earnest this year for students in 2011 but to start with two new awards are coming on stream in 2010. Read more

The Bendigo Chapter presents its first Downtown Lecture for 2010.
Tony Abbott's proposal to takeover the Murray-Darling Basin via a referendum if he wins the next election has drawn criticism from the states, irrigators and the Rudd Labor Government. This presentation will examine the arguments and implications of such a takeover for the river system, the states and for irrigators. Read more
