Alumni to support La Trobe University scholarship fund through Melbourne Heart FC memberships

La Trobe University and Australia’s newest A League soccer team, Melbourne Heart Football Club have finalised an agreement for an education partnership.
As part of the agreement, for every membership that is purchased by La Trobe alumni, Melbourne Heart Football Club has agreed to support a scholarship fund established to support students with financial difficulties.

European Languages Alumni Chapter Launch

The launch of La Trobe University’s European Languages Alumni Chapter was held on 30 July at Belucci’s function centre in South Melbourne to a warm reception. Alongside a captivating Flamenco dance performance from La Luna, El Sol Y La Terra, staff members treated invited Alumni members, whose time spanned over the last 25 years, to reminiscent stories from the programs’ past and how this has transformed to present day.

La Trobe Golden Key Supporting Indigenous Literacy

La Trobe Golden Key hosted its annual fundraising event at the La Trobe Eagle Bar on Indigenous Literacy Day - Wednesday September 1.
An excellent crowd of over one hundred University students, staff, alumni and friends turned out for the trivia competition, which seriously tested even the most erudite trivia-buffs.
Having raised over$1000 for the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation at last year's fundraiser, the committee was determined to reach that mark again in 2010. Read More

Students gearing up for the Australian University Games
Despite poor weather, a huge crowd poored into the Eagle Bar on August 19 to help support our students participate in the Australian University Games in Perth starting later this month.
The BBQ and Bar Night fundraiser, supported by Sports Centre staff and various clubs on-campus raised enough money to cover the official team dinner at the event.
The team is planning another Bar Night for September 16 to farewell the team and raise additional fund.
Alumni Prizes Awarded to the University's most outstanding Students
Each year Alumni Prizes are awarded to the most outstanding student in the final year of a pass degree or the penultimate year of an honours degree in each faculty. The recently announced 2009 Alumni Prize and Chapter Prize winners are:

Applications are open for the 2011 Infinity Leadership Program
Applications for the highly regarded La Trobe University Infinity
Leadership Program for 2011 have now opened. The Infinity Leadership
Program is for students and recent graduates of La Trobe University
aspiring to leadership roles.
The 2011 Program will include
participation in the La Trobe University Leadership Conference to be
held at the La Trobe University Melbourne (Bundoora) campus in February.
The Leadership Conference will give participants the opportunity to
develop their leadership skills and network with other La Trobe
University current and former students. More information

Civil Engineering Scholarships
Seven civil engineering students were acknowledged at a certificate
presentation on 30th August 2010 at which their industry sponsors
presented them with a certificate of achievement.
There are many industry supported and university-wide undergraduate scholarships and prizes available for both commencing and continuing civil engineering students at La Trobe University, Bendigo.
Sponsors for 2010 included the City of Greater Bendigo, SJE Consulting, the Shire of Campaspe, Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water and the FRRR/Pratt Foundation, and CPG Australia Pty Ltd. The Department of Civil Engineering and Physical Sciences is very thankful for the industry support of the sponsors and hope to continue this fantastic program into the future.
Scholarships provide a range of benefits that may include financial support, paid vacation work, access to career mentoring advice from practising engineers and guaranteed, post-graduation employment. Applications for 2011 are opening up later this month.

New science unlocks secrets of ancient Egypt
