StudentStudent Career Mentoring Program launched

Around 140 people attended the launch of the 2009 Student Career Mentoring Program at the Bundoora campus on Thursday 23rd April. This year 100 professionals drawn from alumni, staff of the University and members of the wider community will mentor 145 final year students as they navigate the transition from study to the world of work.

Round-table discussions of what career mentoring is (and is not), strategies for success and potential challenges produced some great insights and will be posted on the Careers and Employment website www.latrobe.edu.au/careers

The enthusiasm generated during these discussions and when partners met each other to start the mentoring process suggest that both parties can expect a positive outcome from the program. One mentor praised the students she had met for their motivation and interpersonal skills and said it had given her a new respect for La Trobe students.

The program was launched at Albury-Wodonga and Bendigo campuses in the following week with enthusiastic compliments received from all who attended.
