Your Voice Matters - National Write Your Congressman

National Write Your Congressman (NWYC),
www.nwyc.com, is a non-partisan organization that assists people across America to write their congressman more effectively. This year we celebrated our 50th Anniversary and I would like to challenge you to become more involved.

Everyday people tell me that America is at a crossroads and that our freedoms and
values are at stake. Others are angry and frustrated with politicians playing
‘politics’ with our future; more importantly, many believe their voice no longer
matters. These same people say the solution is to empower more people like you to
take action.

In celebration of NWYC’s 50th anniversary, I will donate $50 to Pikes Peak Gay
& Lesbian Community Center should you decide to enroll with me by 11/22/08.
Understand this is not about being political but about government accountability.
Please review our website,
www.nwyc.com, to research the organization. If you feel
it is important to become an active participant to keep our country great then send
me an e-mail,
nwyc.pena@gmail.com, so we can set up an appointment.

News From Your Pride Center

Pride Center's Board Says "No" to 46 & 48

Pikes Peak Gay & Lesbian Community Center today announced its formal
opposition to Amendments 46 & 48.

"Both of these amendments are deceitful in nature," says Rob Beam, the
Center's Board President. "Much like Amendment 2, they claim to be something they are not."

Amendment 46 is ultimately intended to remove equal opportunity programs
like Women's Math Programs in colleges. Amendment 48 is intended to ban
abortion, but has the effect of also banning forms of birth control. Both
amendments are considered to be attacks against women and various
communities.

"I'm excited our organization has taken a stand against these two measures
that could have a negative impact on many diverse communities, including the LGBT community," says Ryan Acker, the Center's Executive Director.

The Pride Center plans to release additional information about this year's
ballot in the coming days. For more information, please contact (719)
471-4429 or for media, (719) 233-3760.

Pikes Peak MCC invites you to Dreaming of Decadence: A Night of Wicked Laughter and Devilish Desserts! - NOV 15

The entire community is invited to Pikes Peak MCC on Saturday, November 15 at 6:00P for the biggest fundraising event of the year, Dreaming of
Decadence.  International performer Peterson Toscano will be providing the
wicked laughter with parts of three of his shows (Queer 101,
Trans-figurations, and The Re-Education of George W. Bush), and the place
will have more devilish desserts than anyone could ever hope to eat!  So
don't miss out!

The night is a fundraiser for PPMCC so Peterson will also be auctioning off
some big ticket items in his various characters!  Some examples of the items include antiques, wedding bands, legal services, spa packages, a truck, and a vacation to Playa Del Sol, Los Cabos, Mexico!  Smaller items (some starting at only $1) will be available in the silent auction, so this is
sure to be a good place to start your holiday shopping!  And best of all, it
is all tax deductible!

Tickets for the evening, which cover your admission to Peterson's show and
all the dessert you can eat, are only $10, and tickets are available at the
door or ahead of time by calling the church office (634-3771).  Scholarships
are available; please don't let the ticket cost keep you from attending!  We
want everyone to be able to be here for this incredible event!
