Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Cambridge, MA
Educational Engineering Outreach Programs
Massachusetts Institute
of Technology supports several major engineering outreach programs. Two such
programs are Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES) and Saturday
Engineering, Enrichment, and Discovery (SEED) Academy. Both of these programs
target communities underrepresented in science and engineering. MITES is a rigorous
six-week residential, academic enrichment summer program for promising high school
juniors who are interested in studying and exploring careers in science, engineering
and entrepreneurship. SEED addresses the needs of area high schoolers by helping
them to increase their academic performance in math and science and builds problem
solving skills for students who want to excel in technologically focused fields.
There is no cost to participate in either MITES or SEED, and more information
on both programs can be found on the MIT Web site.
