Augsburg College Achievement Program (ACAP)
With a goal of helping historically underserved college-bound students afford their college education, Augsburg sponsors the Augsburg College Achievement Program, in which recipients receive a $4,500 grant per year for four years. This program recognizes students who have participated in college-readiness programs such as TRIO, MMEP, Admission Possible and AVID by providing additional financial support.

Bridges to a Brighter Future
Bridges to a Brighter Future is a three-year enrichment program for high-achieving Greenville County high school students who come from backgrounds with limiting factors to their academic growth. The mission of the program is to provide students with opportunities to help them graduate high school and guidance in choosing a college. Students begin the program the summer before the 10th grade, and if they successfully maintain a 3.0 GPA they may continue participation through senior year. Each year, these students attend a four-week summer college at Furman University where they take liberal-arts and scientific classes taught by Greenville County teachers. During the academic year, students receive special services during the weekend that include tutoring, success workshops, and mentoring programs.

Summer Bridge
To better integrate first-generation college and low-income students into college life, Saint Martin’s developed the Summer Bridge program, a 10-day transitional program held in July. Summer Bridge offers students the opportunity to improve academic skills in writing and critical thinking, acquaint themselves with faculty and staff, meet fellow students, develop leadership skills and learn more about the university.

Rappahannock Scholars Program
Students who attend participating high schools and exhibit promising academic, economic and leadership characteristics may be nominated by guidance counselors for the Rappahannock Scholars Program. Preference is given to students of underrepresented groups who will add cultural diversity to the university campus, including first-generation students and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. In participation with local high schools in the Northern Neck region of Virginia, the Rappahannock Scholars program guarantees admission to the University of Mary Washington when program criteria are met, and it provides support, guidance and encouragement throughout high school for prospective students to prepare for success in college.

Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship
The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship is a mentoring program that supports students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups interested in pursuing careers in academia. The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program seeks to increase the number of minorities who will pursue doctoral degrees in core arts and sciences fields through mentoring, opportunities for independent research, skills development and introduction to the academic life. Students may be nominated by professors or apply themselves.

Exemplary Achievement Scholarship
Since 2005, The Exemplary Achievement Scholarship annually awards $540,000 in scholarship money to 10 students who have demonstrated ability to overcome significant personal hardships or achieve academic excellence. Each student receives a scholarship award totaling $60,000 over their four years of study. Applicants are evaluated based on a submitted personal statement or essay, resume of activities, awards and achievements, and at least two letters of recommendation. Also considered are achievements outside of the normal academic setting, including athletics, community service, and writing achievements. Selection of recipients is based on character, background, excellence in any field and if a student has to overcome significant difficulties. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
