Fall is a great time to get out and visit colleges and universities. Many schools host programs this time of year designed to expose prospective students to life on their campuses. Check out these upcoming opportunities!

Barnard Bound, October 21

Barnard Bound is a fall pre-open house program designed for students who self-identify as students of color and/or students who could not otherwise afford to visit Barnard. The program, along with our open house scheduled for the following day, provides interested students with the opportunity to stay overnight on campus with current Barnard student host and experience student life, experience the cultural diversity of New York City, and participate in workshops, panels, and classes and meet Barnard students, faculty, and administrators. Barnard Bound provides limited travel scholarships for students from around the country. Travel scholarship recipients will be notified at the time of program admission.

The Explore Bowdoin program offers high-achieving students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to visit the Bowdoin campus. Because we understand that traveling may pose a significant financial burden for many families, the College covers the entire cost of the trip, including all transportation and meals. Participants stay with current Bowdoin students in campus housing, attend classes, receive personal admissions interviews, learn about Bowdoin's need-blind, no-loan policy that guarantees to meet full demonstrated financial need for all admitted students, and explore the surrounding area.

We know that the opportunity to visit campus is an important factor in identifying whether Cornell would be a great fit for you and everything you are looking for in your college experience. Therefore, we invite you to join us for the Fall Diversity Hosting Weekend (Fall DHW). This overnight hosting program will provide you with an insider's view into life as a Cornell Engineer. You will have the opportunity to stay in a residence hall with a current student; learn details about the admission process; participate in an interactive lab demonstration; and interact with faculty, staff, and students.

Discover Davidson II Multicultural Visitation Program, October 21-22
Apply as soon as possible

The Multicultural Visitation Program is held in conjunction with Discover Davidson, an open house for high school seniors and their families. During Discover Davidson II, participants have an opportunity to explore Davidson's picturesque 450-acre campus with a student tour guide, attend a lecture led by Davidson faculty, enjoy a student performance, engage current students in a relaxed round-table discussion, and learn about the admission process, merit scholarships, and our no-loan financial aid policy (known as the Davidson Trust). Space is limited and applicants will be notified of the outcome by October 1.

College Leadership Summit

Franklin & Marshall College invites high school seniors from underrepresented backgrounds and with a strong history of leadership to participate in the Collegiate Leadership Summit. This two day summit provides selected delegates an opportunity to develop their leadership skills while interacting with F&M community members and experiencing college life in a highly selective liberal arts environment. To participate, students must be nominated by counselors, teachers, or staff members. The cost of travel and attendance to the Summit is covered by the College. Each year (6) participants are offered full-tuition scholarships to attend F&M.

Grinnell College is a place that thrives on differences of interests and points of view. The Grinnell Diversity Preview Program offers you the chance to apply for a free trip to campus so you can discover your place at one the nation's top liberal arts colleges. To apply, students must submit the completed application, including a short essay response, an official transcript, an official ACT or SAT score (we will consider complete scores appearing on transcripts as "official") and an activities resume.

Occidental College will host its Fall Multicultural Visit Program (MVP) for outstanding high school seniors of underrepresentated backgrounds from October 21-23. We invite competitive African American, Latino, Native American, Native Hawaiian, and first-generation-to-college Asian American students to apply. Students selected to attend MVP will experience Oxy's diverse academic and social offerings at no cost to the student or his/her family. Application is online and requires nomination from a college counselor.

Pomona College hosts The Fall Weekend Program that allows for students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds to visit campus, meet with students, speak with faculty, and explore Pomona College first-hand. The Fall Weekend is hosted through the MSAP Program, which reaches out to students who are underrepresented on college campuses or will be one of the first in their family to attend college. While limited, there are travel grants available for students to visit over The Fall Weekend. The Fall Weekend occurs twice during the academic year, the first weekend being October 12-15, 2012 and the second being November 9-12, 2012. Space is limited, so please consider set deadlines.

Approximately 85 high school seniors from underrepresented socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds are invited to an expense-paid visit to Whitman. Visiting students will stay with an overnight host in a residence hall, eat in our dining halls, visit up to two classes, meet with an admission officer, coaches, faculty, staff, and student leaders. Many students visit on one of our larger Visitors' Days so the opportunity to attend information sessions about study abroad, athletics, and particular academic and extra-curricular programs is also available.
