Acceleration to Excellence Program
The Acceleration to Excellence Program awards merit scholarships that cover up to the full cost of tuition for outstanding students who enter Simon’s Rock following 10th or 11th grade. Simon’s Rock faculty members select recipients of this award based on academic excellence, extracurricular distinction, personal motivation and character. The most highly qualified applicants are invited to attend the Acceleration to Excellence Finalist Day, where they are introduced to the college’s academic and social programs, interview with faculty and have the opportunity to receive one of the college’s most substantial merit awards.

The Intercultural Resource Center celebrates Gettysburg’s diversity by providing a warm and affirming home on campus for students from all backgrounds and by sponsoring activities that build mutual respect and understanding. The IRC brings speakers to campus who address topics related to diversity, provides services such as tutoring and mentoring, runs discussion groups to foster open conversation on important issues, hosts meals with ethnic themes, and offers a variety of other services to create a welcoming atmosphere on campus. The IRC encourages involvement in its activities from all students at Gettysburg. It has a particular commitment to the academic and personal development of African American, Asian American, Latino and American Indian students on campus.

Founded in 1994, the GE Scholars Program, which has since accepted 144 students, provides underrepresented students with annual scholarship assistance to help fund their Sacred Heart educations. Recipients — who must be full-time, low-income, minority students with a 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated interest in a quantitative-based field such as information technology, finance, economics, etc. — also develop a relationship with a GE executive who serves as a mentor to them, supporting their academic and career goals through a variety of workshops, professional and cultural events and individual meetings.

Students spend three days on campus living in a residence hall, learning about academic and extra-curricular preparation for selective admissions and scholarship opportunities. Sessions include information on admissions, financial aid and scholarship, time management, study habits, test preparation and other important skills needed for high school and college success.
