CAPE Program
The Council Attracting Prospective Educators (CAPE) Program’s original goal was to attract minority students to the teaching profession. That goal was recently expanded to attract minority students to consider a college education in general. Mount Union College was instrumental in implementing this change and now works with local school districts to recruit students for the CAPE Program’s Summer Academy. CAPE’s Summer Academy and other events, such as “College Visitation Day,” are aimed at middle school students in the northeast Ohio area. Students tour the Mount Union campus and are introduced to college application information such as application timelines, the admission process, financial aid and academic preparation.
