The NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE POETRY SOCIETIES, INC.
announced on July 23rd details of the 2008 Stevens Poetry Manuscript Competition!
This is a BOOK competiton. No single poem submissions will be accepted.
The winner will recive $1000 + publication + 50 books
Please find details below:
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION
· manuscript by a single author
· 48-70 pages of poetry, counting any section title pages, but not counting manuscript title page, contents, acknowledgments, or any other front matter
· typewritten or computer printed, NO illustrations
· no author identification anywhere in manuscript
· pages numbered, one poem, one column per page
· may include individual previously published poems (acknowledgments on separate sheet)
· simultaneous and multiple submissions permitted
· enclosed in a plain file folder and/or held by a manuscript clip, NO staples or binding
Include two title pages, one with no author ID, the other with name, address, phone number, email address, and, if applicable, state poetry society membership. Include a table of contents.
NO CERTIFIED OR REGISTERED MAIL. NO DISKS.
Manuscripts will NOT be returned. For notification of competition results, enclose a business-size self-addressed, stamped envelope, or provide email address.
All manuscripts will be reviewed for compliance with
guidelines and overall quality by the competition chair. Approximately 100 manuscripts will be sent, without identification or acknowledgments, to an independent judge, who will remain anonymous until the results are announced.
The winning manuscript will be published by the NFSPS Press, and the book will be available for sale at NFSPS annual convention in June 2009.

Entry Fee: $20 for NFSPS members, $25 for nonmembers

All members of the Ohio Poetry Association are encouraged to participate in the contests and competitons of our National Affiliate, the National Federation of State Poetry Societies (NFSPS).
You can't win if you do not enter!
Again, the submission period is August 1-October 15, 2008 (postmark deadline).
