UNDER OUR SKIN UPDATES & TRANSITIONS
Last month Open Eye Pictures honored Lyme Awareness Month by offering a free DVD for every purchased copy. We called this "A Doc for a Doc" and asked that the extra copies be sent to doctors and legislators on your behalf. We're happy to report that because of this initiative hundreds of DVDs were given out to local and national decisionmakers, spreading awareness and impacting change one viewer at a time.
Also, many of you who have been in contact with Open Eye Pictures are familiar with the patient and compassionate voice of Allie Duro, our community outreach coordinator for UNDER OUR SKIN. It's with sadness (and glee) that we report Allie has left the Open Eye team to become a new mother! Allie is due in July and we wish her and her family love and good luck. In her place, we're excited to welcome Regan Brashear to the Open Eye Pictures team. Regan will be answering your calls and coordinating screenings and other initiatives.
Finally, look for exciting new updates about UNDER OUR SKIN on TV. More on that next newsletter.

UPCOMING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP WITH UOS FILMMAKER
One unfortunate response to Lyme
disease can be the fear of the natural world. People with
Lyme know first-hand the suffering that a simple walk in the
woods can lead to. But really it is our disconnection from nature and the belief that it is
merely ours to exploit that have resulted in our human and earth bodies being out of
balance.
From August 22-27, film director
and photographer Andy Abrahams Wilson is offering his unique, yearly workshop at
the renowned
Esalen Institute. Entitled Framing Nature: Photography as Meditation and Mediation, the workshop teaches
how the camera can help connect us to the environment and discover
new ways of seeing and being. This is the perfect antidote to the isolation and fear of the outdoors that many Lyme sufferers experience. Set on the stunning cliffs of California's Big Sur coast, the workshop promises to be a visual and experiential feast.

REMEMBERING AN EPIDEMIC: THE NEXT FILM FROM OPEN EYE PICTURES
We're moving our camera's lens from awareness of an epidemic to memorializing an epidemic. Two very different plagues, but strikingly similar in some of their physical, social and political trajectories. We've just completed our rough-cut of the next Open Eye Pictures film, tentatively called FORGET ME NOT, which tells the story of the National AIDS Memorial in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
