Tickets are still available for STUDIO - an exclusive opportunity to enjoy an intimate dinner in Cranbrook Academy of Art’s private studio spaces. Each of the Academy’s 10 departmental studios will welcome a small group to enjoy dinner with the department’s Artist-in-Residence and current students.

In conjunction with the event, we are thrilled to offer three unique experiences with select Artists-in-Residence that will be auctioned off in support of the Academy's scholarship program. Details of each experience appears below. These items will be open for bidding the week of the event via the ClickBid app. Check our website for updates and details on how to bid.

An Intimate Conversation with Beverly Fishman in Her Private Studio

For: Six (6) Guests
Date: To be arranged on a mutually-agreeable date during the July-August timeframe
Proposed Time: 6pm

Join Beverly Fishman for an intimate gathering in her private studio and receive a showing of her most recent work. Learn what’s next on her agenda, both personally and for her students and alumni. You’ll soon find her at New York City’s new downtown Art Fair during the Frieze Weekend in May with the David Richard Gallery from Santa Fe. Hospitality and fun guaranteed!

Beverly Fishman is Artist-in-Residence and Head of Painting. Her current solo show of paintings and drawings, Focus: Beverly Fishman, recently opened to critical acclaim at the Eli and Edythe Broad Museum at Michigan State University. Her solo booth at the Miami Projects Fair at Art Basel Miami (sponsored by Wasserman Projects) was considered a "don't miss" event, and her work was featured in the group show Shatter: Contemporary Sculpture in Glass at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fishman is represented by Wasserman Projects in Birmingham, Michigan and David Richards Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Design, Shoot, Print: An Evening with Liz Cohen and Academy Photography Students

For: Eight (8) Guests
Date: To be arranged on a mutually-agreeable date during the October-November timeframe
Proposed Time: 6pm

Join Liz Cohen for an intimate reception in the Academy’s Photography Studio. Bring your best friends for a night out; meet her current students as she personally guides you through their work; and work with them to design, shoot and print a piece of your own.

Artist-in-Residence and Head of Photography, Liz Cohen, has won over the art world with her custom “Trabantimio,” - a custom combined East German Trabant and Chevy El Camino truck - but this summer found success in the automotive realm as well. It was featured in the Wheels section of the New York Times and won first place in the subcompact radical custom class at the MainStreet ShowDown lowrider show in Española, New Mexico. Cohen’s work will be featured this summer in Unsettled Landscapes, Site Santa Fe’s Biennial and in Wrong’s What I Do Best, at the Walter and McBean Galleries at the San Francisco Art Institute. Cohen is represented by Salon 94 in New York and David Klein Gallery in Detroit.

An Adventure with Iris Eichenberg and her Metalsmithing Students—"Be in the Art"

For: Ten (10) guests
Date: To be arranged on a mutually-agreed upon date in the fall

Join Iris Eichenberg and her students for a very special afternoon reception at her home, where each guest will be paired with a current student for an in-depth personal interview and conversation. The results of the interview will then be used to create a custom piece of contemporary jewelry to be delivered to each guest a few weeks after the event. This event provides a unique opportunity to get to know a current student, as well as Iris and the character of her current class.

Iris Eichenberg is the current Artist-in-Residence and Head of Metalsmithing at the Academy. She has worked as an independent artist, an art educator, and as curator of art-related events. Iris recently launched a three-year partnership for the Cranbrook Metalsmithing Department with Gallery Marzee in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The gallery paired Cranbrook students with CAFA, a school in Beijing, China. The two schools together will develop new work and an exhibit for the Gallery Marzee each year through 2016.

All proceeds benefit the Academy's scholarship programs. Please contact STUDIO staff at 248.645.3214 or 248.645.3579 for more information, or visit our website here.
