Summer is here and you're invited to join us in the North Cascades! We offer many routes to get you and your friends or family in to the Wild Nearby:

  • Family Getaways: Connect with your family - and nature too - on the shores of Diablo Lake in North Cascades National Park! We provide comfortable accommodations, delicious, organic meals served in our lakeside dining hall and a daily schedule of fun, kid-friendly outdoor activities. Learn more at www.ncascades.org/family.

  • Base Camp "Learning & Lodging": Flexible, affordable and fun, Base Camp offers you the opportunity to explore the "American Alps" on your own schedule while enjoying the comforts of our campus in the heart of North Cascades National Park. Every Base Camp booking offers a room that sleeps up to four people, three delicious meals and a daily naturalist-led outdoor activity. Book your stay at www.ncascades.org/basecamp.

  • Skagit Tours: In partnership with Seattle City Light and North Cascades National Park, we offer visitors fun, interactive tours of the Upper Skagit Valley and North Cascades National Park. Perfect for out-of-town guests, there are four different varieties, including Diablo Lake and Lunch Boat Tours, Powerhouse Isiders Tours and "Dam Good Chicken Dinner" and Ladder Creek Falls by Night Tours. Sign up at www.ncascades.org/skagit-tours.

  • Adult classes: Explore the natural and cultural history of Cascadia by signing up for a Learning Center class or field excursion. Ranging from one-day to weekends, topics include geology hikes, art and writing classes, mushrooming trips, wildlife tracking and more, taught by the region's best naturalists, artists and guides. See calendar below and learn more at www.ncascades.org/classes.

Browse all these different routes online at www.ncascades.org/get_outside. If you would like a calendar mailed to you, email your address to nci@ncascades.org or call (360) 854-2599.

In other news, the first Youth Leadership Adventures trips wrap up this week (including our first visitor day), we are welcoming interesting groups & conferences like Upward Bound and Inspiring Girls and there’s a new blog post on Chattermarks about ospreys.

Hope to see you in the mountains!
