Public Comment Period Open and Public Hearings Scheduled for LGPC Proposed Rule for Mandatory Boat Inspections

We were just notified that the time for the public hearing in Lake George at Roaring Brook is 1 pm, not 2 pm - so we wanted to pass this update along. Please disregard the email that was sent out yesterday that said 2 pm. We are sorry for any confusion.

The Lake George Park Commission published its proposed rule for mandatory inspection of trailered watercraft for AIS prevention in the NYS Register on August 21. The public comment period is now open and public hearings have been scheduled for October 10th at 1 pm at the Roaring Brook Conference Center in Lake George and at 6 pm at the Best Western in Ticonderoga (Note the hearing in Lake George was changed from its original day and location so please double check your calendar and adjust accordingly).

boat deconThe proposed rule requires all trailered vessels to be inspected and decontaminated if necessary prior to launching in Lake George. Trailered vessels bearing positive verification of having last launched within the Lake George Park shall be exempted from the aforementioned inspection and decontamination.

All launches will also have to be registered with the LGPC within 60 days of the adoption of the rule. Launch operators will have to certify compliance with the rules and maintain written records of launches.  Launch operators will have to secure their launch in a manner authorized by the Commission so as to prevent trailered vessels which are not in compliance with the regulations from entering the Lake.

You can read the proposed rule in its entirety on the LGPC website.
Please be a part of the process and attend a public hearing or send in your comment!
If you have any questions, please give us a call at the office at 518-668-3558 or call the LGPC at 518-668-9347.

The close of the comment period is Friday Oct 18th at 4 pm. Comments may be directed electronically to: or in writing to: Lake George Park Commission PO Box 749 Fort George Road Lake George, NY 12845.
