Who Do You Think You Are?
Remember to watch the show on Friday, March 2 and join in the discussion on Saturday morning before the General Meeting. The discussion will be lead by Carolyn Davis.
The DGS "Trash or Treasure" Event
When: The next General Meeting – Saturday March 3.
What: An interesting collection of genealogically-related “stuff” that is available for donations to DGS.
How’d we get it?
DGS individuals are doing genealogical spring-cleaning and donating items that could be very useful “treasures” to other researchers. The longer we’ve been researching, the greater the likelihood that we have genealogical items that we no longer need. These could include books, publications, forms, maps, CDs, hanging file folders, labels and other office supplies, which will be brought early to the March meeting break-room.
How do you get it?
Most items will be available for donations. Drop whatever amount you think is appropriate into the donation jar and take the item.
A few more valuable items will be available to the highest bidder – you add your name to the bid list for a specific item and near the end of the sale, the highest bidder pays and takes the item.
What’s the schedule?
Donors bring items to the break room as soon as possible after the library opens (10 a.m.).
Treasure acquisition can start at 10:15 until the meeting begins and can continue for an hour after the meeting ends. Highest bids will be determined 30 minutes after the meeting ends (i.e. 30 minutes before the end of the sale).
What can you do to help?
Come to the meeting.
Bring items if you have them.
Encourage others (especially newer researchers) to attend and acquire research tools and materials at bargain prices
Spot and acquire some treasures for yourself!!
THE GOAL IS THAT THE DONATION JAR WILL BE FULL AND THE LEFTOVERS WILL BE FEW!
