DGS Receives Digitization Grant

Portal_To_Texas_History_II 2
The Dallas Genealogical Society is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a  2017 Rescuing Texas History grant from the University of North Texas. The $1000 grant will help the society digitize our Quarterly Journals published between 1955 and 1994 which will be archived on the Portal to Texas History.

The Dallas Genealogical Society has benefited from several previous grants: in 2016 we received funds that allowed us digitize recent issues of Pegasus: Journal of the Dallas Genealogical Society. A 2015 grant resulted in the digitization of Dallas County Probate Records from 1850 to the early 1900’s.

New eNews

As you have no doubt noticed by now, our eNews format has changed. As we were going through the update we had a couple of primary objectives in mind:

  • We wanted to provide information in a format that was easier for you to read. This layout should work better on tablets and Smart  Phones which are increasingly becoming the primary way publications like this are viewed.
  • We also wanted to make it easier to create each issue, and to make sure you are provided with timely and accurate information.
Finally, we are very pleased to announce that Karan Marshall has volunteered to step into the role of Editor of this newsletter. Karan will be leading the effort to improve the layout as we work to adapt it to the needs of our organization. She will also be reaching out to all of our members to provide additional content.

Since this is your newsletter, we would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on what we have done (and on what Karan will be doing). Send us some email at and let us know what you think.
