An Introduction to Kwun and Yueju Chinese Opera

Professor Zhao Gan Li has been invested in Chinese Opera since the age of 11, and completed her advanced apprenticeship specifically in Kwun Opera at the China Zhejiang Drama Academy in Hangzhou Province. She has worked as a theory researcher, writer and critic at the Chinese Opera Institute in Beijing. After coming to the United States as a visiting artist in 1994, Professor Li now serves as a primary Art Director and teacher of Chinese Opera techniques with the Chinese Kwun Opera Society and the California Yueju Opera Center.
