The Romance of the Western Chamber
- Part III-
Hung Niang Arranges a Secret Assignation.
In my dreams I dreamt that you two were united,
But when I awoke you were single once more.
For your sake I have abandoned sleep and forgotten to eat;
And even my silk robe did not prevent me feeling cold
during the small hours of the morning.
In anticipation of Pursuing the Verdant Dream: Two Afternoons of Kwun and Yueju Opera in August 2011, this is the third scene of a graphical arrangement of The Romance of the Western Chamber, a classical story of love and yearning from Yuan Dynasty China that has been both a literary favorite and a popular Chinese Opera for centuries. Subsequent scenes will be delivered by electronic mail.
