Greetings Laura!

This month I have included information about a great hiking trail to help you enjoy the hot weather, ways to prepare for the cold and flu season, and ideas about how to improve the look of your house to start getting ready for the holiday season. Also, there is a sweet referral of the month and an energy smart green tip. Click the link Make your home the 'hottie' on the street to read Marni Jameson's tips to improve your home's curb appeal.

Featured This Month:

New Favorite Trail

One of the latest links in the Bay Area Ridge Trail has coastal views for the record books. Marin's Dias Ridge Trail, a multiuse path (hiking, biking, and horseback riding all okay) connects State 1 to Panoramic Highway, 3.1 miles up the hill. The new stretch S-curves through rock gardens to a gently sloping ridge. Hikers can make longish loops by adding on the Miwok or Coastal Trails. It's also fun just to climb the sweeping vistas of Mt. Tamalpias, then head back down to Muir Beach's secluded crescent ending with a frothy victory ale at the Pelican Inn. Trailhead on State 1 is across from the Pelican Inn; or (415) 561-3000.

Health Tip-Outsmart Cold and Flu

"The places we don't instantly think of as germy can harbor the most bugs," says Philip Tierno, Ph.D., author of The Secret Life of Germs. Scan his list of overlooked hot spots; if you make contact, wash up with soap for 20 seconds before touching your face.
1. ATM Machines
2. Escalator handrails
3. The office microwave
4. The ballpoint pen at the bank
5. Elevator buttons
